Custom Polymer Buttons & Embellishments

Class Description

Join experienced button maker Susan Thiel to make custom buttons and embellishments. Susan will teach you the basics of working with polymer clay. Then students can create custom buttons and embellishments for their projects in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. Students will learn how to make a two-hole, four-hole, and shank style button. They also can make embellishments (like a button but designed for decorative use to put on quilted wall hangings, cross stitch, purses, hats, felted or embroidered pieces, and more). Susan will also have pin backs if someone wants to convert a favorite button or embellishment into a pin. Each student is encouraged to bring their sweaters, purses, or other projects in need of buttons so they can design buttons to fit their project. Each student should be able to complete two sets of buttons and a pin during class. And they should go home with the ability to make their own custom buttons if they desire. Students are encouraged to contact the instructor with the colors they want to make their buttons in, so Susan can make sure every student has the colors they want. Class is open to Adults and Children 10+ years old (Younger allowed if accompanied by an adult or older sibling for assistance. An assistant is not required to register unless you want to make your own buttons.)
